Marketing veteran joins WMEP to help manufacturers find new ways to grow

MILWAUKEE – The Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership (WMEP) has hired a marketing veteran to help manufacturers in Southeast Wisconsin grow their companies.

Michael Quill brings 20 years of experience in new product development, market research and marketing planning to his new position of marketing specialist.  His primary area of focus will be working with small and midsize manufacturers in Kenosha and Racine.

“We know that growth is an area that many small manufacturers are struggling with today,” said Quill.  “For some companies growth can come from new markets, while for others it comes from increasing business with current customers.  WMEP is an excellent resource to help manufacturers develop strategies to achieve profitable growth,” he said.

Before joining WMEP, Quill served as product manager for Waukesha-based Smiths Medical PM, Inc., a leading global provider of medical devices; and as senior marketing manager for a Racine-based industrial consumer safety products firm.  Throughout his career, Quill has created marketing plans, managed new product launches, planned and executed market research and developed new business opportunities that led to sales and revenue growth.

A Racine resident, Quill holds a master’s degree in business administration from DePaul University with a concentration in marketing and a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Notre Dame.

“Planning for growth is a critical element of Next Generation Manufacturing,” Quill said.  Next Generation Manufacturers are firms that are lean and agile, innovative, globally-focused, environmentally aware and able to attract and retain skilled workers.

WMEP’s growth and business development services include: Eureka! Winning Ways, a nationally recognized approach to smarter growth; market research and analysis; marketing plans; strategic business planning and go-to-market channel planning.
