PSC Commissioner Celebrates Earth Day by Presenting Antigo with Excellence in Energy Efficiency Award


-City of Antigo earns award by completing numerous energy efficiency projects-


MADISON – On Tuesday, April 22nd Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC) Commissioner Mark Meyer will celebrate Earth Day by presenting the city of Antigo with the state’s Award for Excellence in Energy Efficiency. The award is to recognize Antigo’s leadership in implementing numerous energy efficiency and environmentally friendly projects around the city.


Antigo Mayor Michael Matousek and Antigo Director of Administrative Services Dale Soumis will explain the importance of Antigo’s commitment to enhancing the safety and efficiency of city operations. PSC Commissioner Meyer and representatives from Focus on Energy, Wisconsin’s energy efficiency and renewable energy initiative, will provide background on the projects in Antigo and discuss how Focus on Energy can help other local governments, residents and businesses reduce their energy consumption and lower their energy bills.


The city of Antigo has worked with Focus on Energy over the past several years to find ways to improve the operation and efficiency of government facilities and public areas. These projects include, but are not limited to: lighting upgrades, boiler and variable frequency drives installations and improvements to the operation of the wastewater and water treatment facilities.
