Governor Doyle Announces National Recognition for Wisconsin Permit Primer

MADISON—Governor Jim Doyle today announced that the US Small Business Administration’s Office of Advocacy (OA) has recognized the Wisconsin Permit Primer for providing fast, accurate information to business users. The OA highlighted the Wisconsin Permit Primer in the March 2008 issue of the State Reg Flex Roundup newsletter.

“I’ve worked hard to establish a positive regulatory climate in Wisconsin that protects our environment and assures fast and effective service to our business customers,” Governor Doyle said. “The Wisconsin Permit Primer provides clear answers to permitting questions and is available 24 hours per day.”

The Wisconsin Department of Commerce’s Small Business Clean Air Assistance Program (SBCAAP) and Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) worked together to develop the Wisconsin Permit Primer. The primer recognizes that many users may not know which permits apply to their operations. Users are asked questions that help determine which permits they need. Once the permits are identified, users can easily download them from the site.

The web-based Primer covers all environmental permitting programs administered by the Department of Natural Resources including air, solid/hazardous waste, water supply, storm water, wastewater, and waterway and wetland permits.

The Governor recognized Tom Coogan and Renee Bashel of the SBCAAP and Laurel Sukup of the WDNR for the efforts to develop the Wisconsin Permit Primer.
