Department of Commerce Provides $7 Million Package
to Encourage Company’s Expansion in Wisconsin
WAUKESHA – Governor Jim Doyle announced today that the state
will provide GE Healthcare with a $7 million package to assist the company
as it expands its business operations in Wisconsin. At a news conference in
Waukesha today, GE Healthcare announced that it has selected a location in
the Milwaukee County Research Park in Wauwatosa that will house the
company’s Information Technologies, Ultrasound, and e-Business divisions.
“GE Healthcare is one of Wisconsin’s most successful
companies, and its decision to locate this new facility in Wauwatosa
represents a major win for Wisconsin,” Governor Doyle said. “The high-tech
and competitive paying jobs created by GE Healthcare in Wisconsin have
greatly benefited our economy, and this investment will not only retain, but
create more of these high end jobs in our state. I look forward to
continuing our partnership with an innovative and cutting-edge company like
GE Healthcare.”
Groundbreaking on the new 475,000-sq-ft. facility, which
will house approximately 2,000 employees, is set for this summer, with
initial occupancy slated for 2005. GE Healthcare employees moving to the
new facility will represent a variety of functions, including engineering,
programming, service support, and manufacturing.

headquarters facility for several of our key business units,” said Joe

GE Healthcare, one of the top employers in the state with
more than 6,400 employees, currently has facilities in more than a dozen
Wisconsin communities, including Brookfield, Madison, Milwaukee, Menomonee
Falls, Pewaukee, and Waukesha. The company has operated its manufacturing
facility in Waukesha since 1973.
